Who We Are

GAPS (Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebrum) was founded in 2016 by a group of parents, caregivers, and passionate individuals who wanted to create better opportunities for children and adults with cerebral palsy in Malaysia.

We saw the challenges families faced – from the lack of therapy access to social stigma – and we knew something had to be done. GAPS began as a small support group but quickly grew into a recognised organisation that today provides programs, advocacy, and nationwide awareness campaigns.

Mission

“We empower the CP community in Malaysia through knowledge-building programmes, socio-emotional support and advocacy, and fostering inclusion and awareness.”

GAPS activities are planned around 3 focal points:

Empowerment & Knowledge Building

  • Equipping caregivers with skills and knowledge
  • Training sessions, webinars, and workshops for the public
  • Promoting professional development in CP care

Socio-Emotional Support & Advocacy

  • Support groups for parents and caregivers
  • Programs to strengthen resilience and mental health
  • Advocacy efforts to reduce stigma and improve policies for disability inclusion

Creating awareness about CP

  • National and community-based CP awareness campaigns
  • Media outreach to change perceptions about CP
  • Encouraging society to volunteer and participate in inclusive projects

At GAPS (Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebrum), we believe that every child with cerebral palsy is more than their diagnosis.
Behind every child, there is a family filled with love, worry, and endless hope.
Behind every family, there is a story of courage — of sleepless nights, of tears, but also of laughter and small victories that mean the world.
